Getting Started with EESSI: An NRIS and MultiXscale Workshop

Curious about an easier way to access scientific software? Join NRIS and MultiXscale (a EuroHPC JU Center of Excellence) for an in-person introduction to the European Environment for Scientific Software Installations (EESSI) at the University of Bergen. During this workshop, you will explore how EESSI (pronounced “easy”) offers a common stack of scientific software installations for HPC systems and beyond, including laptops, personal workstations, and cloud infrastructure. The workshop includes both an introductory lecture and hands-on exercises, giving you practical experience with finding, loading, and running software provided by the EESSI stack.

Target audience & prerequisites

The course is ideal for researchers, developers, and students. No prior knowledge of EESSI is required, though participants should have basic experience using a command-line shell on a local or remote system. All you need is curiosity about how EESSI provides a consistent user experience and access to scientific software across different systems.

Note

Participants who are new to Linux, command-line tools, or HPC systems may benefit from the introductory knowledge provided by the HPC onboarding.
